Message from Heather Love Cobleskill FOE AUX #2695 Sec Concerning Anniversary Dinner August 21st, 2010

I wanted to send out info regarding our anniversary dinner in Aug.  First of all, I wanted to inform the aux members that this is the aerie anniversary, not a joint anniversary w/ our aux.  We would enjoy seeing any aux member, as everyone is welcome to attend, however I didn’t want the ladies to be mislead that it was an aux celebration.

·         Our ann. dinner will be held on Sat, 8-21 @ 6:00 in our aerie home.

·         The menu will consist of either prime rib ($20) or stuffed can breast ($18) including a salad, vegetables and dessert.

·          We are asking people to RSVP by Sat, 8-14 as this event will be catered by one of our members.

·          Please RSVP by email or to our home phone # (leave message on answering machine) @ 518-234-2949 and indicate whether you would like beef or can and how many dinners if you are calling for a group.  It would be helpful to leave a contact phone #  in the event we have any questions regarding your message and need to follow up w/ a call.

Hotel accommodations in the area:

1.       Super 8 – Shane negotiated a rate of $75/room (you need to tell them you’re attending our Eagle ann. dinner to get the reduced rate), there is a wedding in town the same wend, so it would be beneficial to call sooner rather than later   518-234-4888

2.       Best Western – 518-234-4321  (rates may be high b/c it’s summer)

3.       Holiday Inn Express in Central Bridge/Schoharie (this hotel is about 15 min away from Cobleskill)  518-295-6088

New York Aerie President Looks to Raise Recognition for Eagles Hands On campaign to emphasize organization’s volunteer efforts

June 22, 2010
Glens Falls, N.Y. – New York State Aerie President Larry Robillard is doing his best to make sure The Fraternal Order of Eagles gets the recognition it deserves. Through his new “Hands On” campaign, Robillard looks to bring the organization’s dedicated volunteerism to the forefront.
“The unemployment rate is so high right now and people have more time to volunteer,” he said. “We want to help recognize all of those people for what they do for the organization and their local communities.”
Aeries around the state of New York are now using “Hands On” sheets when submitting donation information that help track the number of volunteer hours worked and the economic value of those hours.
“We ran a pilot run with four New York Aeries and it worked out great,” Robillard said. “We raised over $14,000 and our members put in $16,000 worth of man hours to get it done. There are so many people here who give their time to make these donations possible and we want to put a figure with that time spent so people understand how much work goes into this.”
It is also his hope that through volunteer hours, those without jobs might be able to network and turn their fortunes around.
“You never know who you might be helping,” Robillard said. “It’s possible someone could find a job through this. It’s all for the good of the cause.”
In his year as New York State Aerie President, he hopes he can help change the way volunteering is approached and viewed by those both inside and out of the organization.
“A lot of people just don’t know much about the Eagles,” he said. “We like to think of ourselves as one of the best kept secrets out there. We do a lot of good for people every day. We’re more than just a neighborhood bar.”
About the Fraternal Order of Eagles

Gaming Machine Moxie Mania Ruled Illegal
THE VIDEO GAME MOXIE MANIA HAS BEEN RULED ILLEGAL IN NEW YORK STATE. IF YOU HAVE ONE IN YOUR AERIE KNOW THAT THE RACING AND WAGERING BOARD AND THE STATE LIQUOR AUTHORITY WILL TAKE ACTION ON THIS GAMBLING DEVICE.
The Daily Gazette - Albany NY
- An Appeals court has ruled that a video game found in certain bars in the Capital Region amounts to illegal gambling. Moxie Mania is a game of chance, not a game of skill, the state Supreme Court Appellate Division Third Judicial Department ruled in a decision released Thursday. The decision overrules a state Supreme Court decision in Albany County that the game was legal. The State liquor Authority ruled administratively in late 2008 that the game was a gambling device.

Please help with sending thanks to Bruce for all of his help Bruce T. Samboy, Director, Division of Gaming Regulation
,
New York State Racing & Wagering Board has been a supporter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 30 years. Some of the things Bruce has helped the Eagles do was to legalize the Queen of Hearts game along with many other bingo and bell jar enhancements. PLEASE SEND BRUCE A NOTE OF THANKS FOR THE YEARS HE HAS HELPED THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES WITH GAMING ENHANCEMENTS HERE IN NEW YORK. WITHOUT HIS INPUT AND ACTION, THERE WOULD NOT BE AS MANY AERIE'S HERE IN NEW YORK AS THERE IS TODAY. SOME OF OUR AERIE'S WOULD NOT SERVIVE WITHOUT GAMING ASSETS.
HERE'S THE E-MAIL I SENT TO HIM....... Bruce, You have changed so many things and have supported the fraternal organizations in so many ways, the Fraternal Order of Eagles just can't thank you enough! Best of luck (hopefully better odds than those at the racino's) in your retirement. Bob Yager.

A message dated 4/27/2010 4:44:23 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, BSamboy@racing.state.ny.us writes: Dear friends, colleagues, and family members, Upon my recent completion of thirty-two years of public service [thirty-one and a half of them with this Board], my application was approved last week by the Retirement System for a final date of May 14th. While I fully appreciate and am extremely proud to say that I have greatly enjoyed working with so many talented and dedicated employees and colleagues who have become dear friends over the past three decades, I’ve simply lost the passion necessary to oversee gambling regulatory operations at the level I’ve been accustomed to, and truly feel that the time is right to relax, pursue some longtime hobbies, and get some work done around our home. I plan to work nearly fulltime until May 14th, and intend to assist you all in any way that I can. Thank you my friends, coworkers and colleagues, past and present, for your support and confidence in me throughout my career in the only job I’ve ever really known, or ever wanted, and I trust that you’ll respect my very difficult and emotional decision.

03.05.2010 Mason/Dixon Conference – Your help is needed.
As a proud member of the Mason Dixon Conference, everyone’s help is needed to make this years conference a success.  As you know, the change of the conference dates has put many of us in conflict with attending.  The original dates on Easter weekend has been changed to the weekend of April 10th and 11th, the same weekend as the Olean anniversary but you can still help..   We're asking everyone to donate items like baskets of cheer and anything else that can be raffled or auctioned at the conference.  All donations can be given to State Aerie President Lenny Briggs or sent to the Johnson City Aerie by April 8th so our representatives Pat and Judy Gray can pick them up and take them to the conference.

03.05.2010 Mason-Dixon Conference Update
Mason/Dixon Conference Update Hello to all of my Brothers and Sisters of the Mason/Dixon Conference, As most, if not all, of you know by now , James “Hobo” Jenkins has stepped down as Chairman of this years Conference. Since I was elected as Vice Chairman at the 2009 Conference, the responsibility for this years Conference would be on my shoulders. I would gladly accept that responsibility but I have been assigned by the Grand Aerie to attend the MINK Conference in St Joseph MO the same weekend. I suggested to Brother Jenkins that Robbie Wilson be asked to Chair the 2010 event. Hobo called Robbie and he said that he would accept the position as this years Chairman. I then placed a phone call to Paul Armstrong and asked Paul if he would accept the Vice Chairman’s  spot for this year. Paul returned my call stating that he would accept this position for this years conference. I want to thank Robbie and Paul for accepting this responsibility on such short notice. I know that with the help of the great Brothers and Sisters of the Mason/Dixon Conference that this will be another successful and fun filled event as it always is. It is hard work for two days but when it is all over all of the participants are proud of what they have done for the past couple of days. I know that the efforts of everybody that is involved in making the Mason/Dixon a success is greatly appreciated by our incoming Grand Worthy President and Grand Madam President. Thank you for supporting the Lottery. We did not get all of the tickets sold and some of them were not returned to me. There were a total 842 tickets sold. Of the remaining 158 tickets 70 were returned to me unsold and 80 were not returned to me. Our projected income was $10,000.00. Since we only had an income of  $8,420.00, the amount that we will be able to give our incoming Grand Worthy leaders will be a little less than usual. If it is the wish of the members of the Mason/Dixon Conference, I will take care of the Lottery for 2011. I wish all of you a successful Conference and I will see you somewhere on the Eagle trail. Fraternally,  Ken Witt   Mason-Dixon Conference

This is additional information to the letter that was sent out a few months ago. Information is attached at the bottom of the page.
There may be some of our Brother/Sister Eagles that have not received the previous letter on the Mason-Dixon Conference so I would like to recap on all the information that went out.

As in the past years on the two days of the conference, we raffle, play tip jars & run multiple money games and in doing so, what we Eagles do best while raising funds, we promote ‘Having Fun’. There will be entertainment both nights. The banquet will take place on Saturday evening.. For your convenience and safety the host Aerie is providing shuttle service to take you back and forth from Hotel to the Aerie Home.
The only time we actually take a break is on Saturday morning for the business meeting, which is on or about noon. At this time we elect new officers, state representatives and set plans for next years conference.
The costs of the banquet tickets are $15.00 per person. Please make your reservations early so our Host Aerie will know exactly how much food to prepare. The liquor law allows the chancing off of liquor, wine & beer, but as soon as the item has been won, you need to remove it from the building. Any checks that are donated, please make sure they are made payable to the Mason-Dixon Conference. At the end of the conference we will in turn write our in-coming GP’s a check.
