New York
State Senator Hugh T. Farley was inducted into the New York State Aerie
Hall of Fame by Grand Aerie Representative James Clark. Senator Farley has
always been a friend of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and has always
assisted us. Along with others, in the picture is State Aerie President
Bryan Welch and former Grand Aerie Chaplin Father McCarthy. Vermont State
Secretary Frank Trombley was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the same time
but presented to him at his State Aerie Convention a week later in Vermont
by State Chairman Doug McDermott. Frank has spent many hours in New York
State assisting our Aeries in many different ways.

State Secretary Update
February 20, 2003
At the upcoming State Aerie Spring Conference to be held in Ithaca on April 12th
the following conferences and state convention sites will be considered and awarded. If
your Aerie is interested in holding the 2004 Spring Conference (April 17 & 18),
the 2004 Fall Conference (September 11 & 12) or the 2005 State Convention
(June 16, 17 &18) please submit on your Aerie letterhead the event you'd
like to host, date that your Aerie membership approved submitting a bid for the
event, sign it (Aerie Secretary and President) and put the Aerie seal on this
letter. Send your bid into the State Aerie Secretary or bring it to the
Spring Conference.
Letters supporting persons for State Aerie office are due by the upcoming Spring
Conference. The following letters have been received for Bryan Welch, Kenneth
Fiero, Leonard Briggs and David Cook. Please submit on your Aerie letterhead
the person your Aerie is supporting, date that your Aerie approved this support,
sign it (Aerie Secretary and President) and put the Aerie seal on this letter. Send
it into the State Aerie Secretary or bring it to the Spring Conference.
There are some gaming changes and items of interest. Please contact your
New York State Senator and have them support S-296 that's before them now. This
legislation makes it legal to sell bell jar tickets on New Year's Eve. In
the future, all 1/3 charity donations from gaming accounts will have to be made
each quarter. Certain bingo electronic devices are now legal.
State convention pre registration will be done again this year. The registration
card will be available at the Spring Conference
Please consider putting in for a Grand Aerie grant. We have money earmarked
for New York State that's available.

We are back! Had some trouble with our
web hosting company. We changed our
Domain name to NYAERIE.ORG (it was nysaerie.org).We just dropped the "s".
We bought it and we have control of it.
Our hosting services are provided by Burton Hosting. They have a very fast
and efficient operation. I was impressed by their 2 or 3 minute response to
any
e-mail I sent them. Our old hosting company sent an automated response and
replyed in 2 to 3 days!

Introducing our New Aerie,
Rensselaer Aerie #4446
January 2003 State Secretary Article
2003 Grand Aerie Hospitality Room
HELP! Since the Grand Aerie Convention is in Buffalo this year, the New
York State Aerie plans to welcome the rest of the fraternity by hosting
a quality hospitality room at the Grand Aerie Convention. Besides what
is in our budget, we expect the cost of putting on a high quality hospitality
room to be $3,000 to $4,000 above our budget. Without your help, we just
can't do it. Please send in any and all donations to the State Aerie
and mark the check in the memo section "Hospitality Room".
A printout of those donating to the hospitality room will be posted in
the room. If you would like a message on this printout rather than your
name, please attach a paper with your wishes (In the Memory of Don Rettinger,
etc.). A special thanks to Lou and Tammy Osmon for their help with the
hospitality room. Pete Vaughn, Grand Aerie Hospitality Room Chairman
Block out Rooms for the Grand Aerie Convention There has been some interest
in blocking out rooms in the headquarters hotel at the Grand Aerie Convention.
If you're sure your going to the convention in Buffalo, please let the
State Secretary know by January 15th and he'll block the number of rooms
needed.
Grand Aerie Hall of Fame
The New York State Aerie has submitted Don Rettingers name for Grand
Aerie Hall of Fame. The Grand Aerie Hall of Fame Committee will be meeting
in February to make their decision. I encourage anyone, any Member, Aerie,
Auxiliary, REACT or any other group to write into Grand Aerie supporting
Donnie for the Grand Aerie Hall of Fame. Wouldn't it be nice to have
his name selected and announced at this years Grand Aerie Convention
in Buffalo? Please take a few moments of your time and send in your support
for Donnie to: Fraternal Order of Eagles, Grand Aerie Hall of Fame Committee,
c/o The Grand Worthy Presidents Office, 1623 Gateway Circle
South, Grove City, OHIO 43123-9309. Thank you!
